PSR 800 External Speaker

Not having the best hearing. I was wondering if using a external speaker would help in listening to the transmissions. Is a amplified speaker needed or can I get away with just the speaker. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Try headphones. Probably better then an external speaker.

I tried using headphones and they are diffidently an improvement. Unfortunately my wife thinks I tune her out enough as it is. This would diffidently be the straw that breaks the camels back. Thanks for your reply.

If you're listening to the radio around the house, you can use a cheap pair of amplified computer speakers. For the vehicle, there are amplified mobile speakers, but they can be more expensive and harder to find.

Another approach is to use an FM transmitter, like the type made for MP3 players. Then you can pick up your scanner's sound using whatever cheap FM radio you happen to have in any given room.
