I have a GRECOM PSR-800 that Ive owned since new in 08-09. The receiver work great if not a touch slow by newer standards. And it looks to be in great shape too... Except to the matte finish around the key has been coming off since I first got it. While it cosmetic it does bug me at times. I'm sure I. Not the only one that has that finish hazing and coming off. Is there any mild solution that anyone could recommend to gently remove the remaining finish.

I have the PSR-800 and the Radio Shack version. Both did the same thing and I used a Q-tip and either alcohol or nail polish remover (acetone) to clean off the matte finish. Underneath it is a nice and shiny black background.

I did this so long ago that I can't remember which item I used. Try the alcohol first. Don't have the Q-tip dripping with anything that could run into the areas around the buttons. It only takes a little and it will remove the matte. (I tried inserting or attaching a photo but, no matter what resolution I used, the website indicated the file size was too large. Sorry,)

I figured I'd try something simple like that once I get around to it. Was thinking about trying something gentle like rubbing alcohol with maybe a touch of hand lotion (because hand oils helped remove the original finish off, and it will slow the alcohol evaporation). It's not a pressing matter, but tends to annoy me from time to time.

I'm not positive as it's been so long ago now but look through this thread: keypad area wear / silk screen psr-800

I think somewhere in there were different "home" remedies users found to just remove the matte finish which I think is what you are looking to do.
