Using a SpectrumForce lapel speaker and find that the audio is very low, even with the scanner volume set to MAX, and the slide vol adjust on the lapel speaker set all the way up. Any other lapel speakers that may work better?

Use a earbud, or earwig for more volume.

I would have to say that this is the only option I can see too, which is sad. It should be an advanced menu choice whether or not we want it to lower the volume for us.

Just checking... on the general settings tab, did you adjust the Headphone slider?

Low volume with external speaker

It is also possible that there is an impedance mismatch between the radio and the speaker.
