My new PSR-800 works fine on all the TGID's for my County's Mixed Mode Digital TRS except for the Sheriff's Dept.which does not show the TGID's, instead they show up as Conventional and no voice at all. The RR database contains the correct ID's, but the scanner will not load them. I am monitoring the Jefferson County, Alabama TRS by Zip Code. Anybody know a way to fix this?. The manual reads like a Chinese typewriter.

Loading with zip code can be nice but it can also pick up alot of stuff you don't really want. You have options.

For example, when I load 35005 with default categories, I get the State of Alabama and Jefferson County and 119 conventional frequencies. When I import 35006, I get the two systems and 175 conventional frequencies.

Looking at the conventional freqs for Jefferson on RR, I don't see any Sheriff channels. However, I do see some town local police channels.

Jefferson County, Alabama (AL) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

What are you seeing the radio stop on as conventional? Are they labeled "Sheriff" channels? What frequencies?

You may want to start over and program/import only the Jefferson County system (via an EZ Scan "Standard" import or "Browse Library" on the radio itself. vs. a locational/zip code load. This way, you can load only the Jefferson County system. To experiment, you can even select just the Sheriff talkgroups this way to isolate them.

add a wildcard useing EZScan software to that scan list and you will get everything not already identified in your TG list, alternatively if its importing them incorrectly from the library (possible) you can enter them in manually in EZScan under the Talkgroups tab I believe.

Thanks for the replies, but I am still having trouble. I have updated the Library DSP and all Software.

The E-Z Scan software does not show a Talkgroups Tab.

Here is what I am seeing when I select an Object that should have a valid TGID.

-Browser-

Scanlist 001

TGRP 400-02 psd

JCSO Bess Ch2

Jefferson County Simulcast

THE CORRECT TGID SHOULD BE 41040.

I have no idea how to fix it?.

Also - how did you load the system into the radio? I don't see an alpha tag (label) of a talkgroups on the Jefferson system using that string (JCSO Bess Ch2)....?

Did you manually enter/change it?

I can duplicate this. I would open a ticket with GRE and see what they say.

I can't repeat this observation. I even went to the website (greamerica.com) and downloaded a fresh copy of EZ Scan -- version 1.06 and comes with v. 147 of the library. As installed (with v 147) , seems to work fine and even after updating the library to 165 it still seems to be fine.

OK - I see that now. I wasn't selecting individual talkgroups or subsets of groups - just loading the entire system into EZ Scan.

However, even though it's displayed incorrectly in the EZ Scan pick list, when you load them and look at the listings in the Trunked Systems display, they appear to display properly.

I suppose the oddly displayed TGIDs in EZ Scan (as you have provided) could be carrying over into the radio's programming... I cannot tell since I can't receive the system.

But, as you have pointed out, there is a problem....

Thanks

For the time being I did Public Safety Search on 800 Mhz only and saved the Control Channels for JCSO and they receive fine with correct TGID's, just do not show names such as JCSO Bess2 etc. So i'll do that until GRE comes up with a better plan. Thanks

Thank you, the EZ-Share Software has a definite flaw because all the TGID's listed and shown on my copy of the CD shows Jefferson County Simulcast TRS as having wrong TGID's. The RR online dtabase the correct ones. Maybe they need to send us New Correct Software CD?.
