Hey all,

One of our local departments is on UHF P25 non-TRS. I was curious. If I programmed it in as a one-channel trunked system, would I then be able to alpha-tag the radio ID's?

Thanks all. :)

I don't have a single site system locally to verify with, but the manual says:

CONV TGID
PSR-800 User Manual! Page 71
When enabled, shows the Talkgroup ID for P25 Conventional
Talkgroup calls. Simple Display must be unchecked.

CONV Radio ID
When enabled, shows the Radio ID for P25 conventional calls.
Simple Display must be unchecked.

Right... The latter would apply to this situation... he wants to alpha-tag the radio ID's though, which I believe can only be done with a trunking system.

The problem is that by setting up a TRS that isn't really a TRS, the scanner is going to try and find a control channel, which it won't be able to do. Since there's no control channel for the TRS, it will sit there and do nothing, essentially. I'm pretty sure (though I can't say for certain since I've never tried it) that it will continuously search for a control channel until it can find one, even if there are other transmissions on the frequencies programmed to be searching.

Well it can see NAC data when present, so in theory it should be able to see TGID and RID information if it's available.

True, he may not be able to alpha-tag the displayed information because there is no saved object in memory.
