I searched for previous posts on this to no avail. Any idea why the Amateur Service search on the PSR-800 uses 5 KHz steps? 12.5 KHz is the bandplan.

This is one of the main problems with GRE's set search ranges; they cannot be modified. GRE should have chosen a format like Uniden; whereas you can adjust the parameters of each search range as well as choose the modulation, etc. I wish GRE would change this in firmware, especially here in Michigan because we don't use the 420 to 430 range of the 70-CM band as it's allocated for public-safety; it would sure speed up the searching on the ham bands.

Also, has anyone else had issues on 440 with allot of birdies; I almost have to keep the squelch all the way up just to search on 440; other scanners including the GRE PSR-500/600 and Uniden BCD396/996XT work just fine from the same location. I've swapped units out with GRE at least three times already.

Thoughts, comments, etc.
