OK..my 800 will be here in 2 days..whats the best way to run this scanner as a Desktop..no portable..do I need to buy a power cord or what. Thanks

It runs on 5 volts from the USB cable. An inexpensive USB wall charger should easily handle the needs. It will not charge the battery while scanning, so if you use rechargeable batteries, get a good charger for double AAs. Most of us with experience do not charge our batteries in the radio. I had a NiCd short and melt the radio several years ago.

Use the cable that comes with it - plug it into your PC - or you just need to get that USB house current adapter --

or, as I do -> just have at least two sets of batteries-- one always on external charge.... I like to be able to "go mobile" at any moment.

I would recommend turning location Off in the general tab. This could save you headaches later.

just waiting on my new batts to show up..running on Alkaline copper tops..getting over 6 hrs on a set..not bad..my PRO-96 only got 4 hrs... and I put the PRO-96 to sleep..while looking for a new owner.
