PSR500/PSR600: PSR600 blank screen

As I turned it on this morning, looked like the contrast was set real low. Then when I reset it the LCD went away completely. The screen light is fine. I use PSR Edit to remote and the scanner is working normally.
Has anyone seen this and is there an easy fix? Right !!

I did an extensive search and found if you lower the contrast way down the screen will come back.
