Things you are trying to listen to can sometimes be overwhelmed by local interference (other signals coming from cell towers for example). This is even more evident if you are mobile/driving and/or listening to analog frequencies/talkgroups.

If you start hearing alot of static and/or notice the [T] starts wavering on normally well received systems or frequencies, the ATTentuation button can sometimes help by blocking out the local interference.

Found on pg 66-67 on how to use the led flashing light . Not sure exactly how to enable it but I will. Again thanks this is not your daddys scanner. I got it scanning just trying out how to use software to put into scanner local frequencies I want . I see the onboard library also. again thanks to all who have helped...

In the EZ Scan Software click on either the Conventional Tab or Trunk System Tab and Highlight either a frequency or a Talkgroup. Double Mouse Click on Highlighted Line IN BKLT/LED column. Now Select ON in Backlight Mode; Select either On Solid or Flash in LED Mode Box; Next select a Color and finally click on SET at bottom of Box. This set up will turn the LCD on and the LED on when a transmission is received on the frequency or Talkgroup selected. You need to do each one seperatly although you can group tag all frequecies or Talkgroups that will have the same characteristics.
