Hello
Apologize if I am in the wrong place, but I am in need for some information.
I have been looking for a dependable 'life safety" communications solution in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
Over the last year I have been testing out PTT, conventional and digital radios
I looked at Motorola Digital but was told I needed at least 50 radios and that I would be lucky to get a frequency due to close proximity to the US. I looked at resellers who had a repeater, but they were too far away, or there was an obstruction between the test and the repeater.
I tried PTT over 3G and WIFI using a Iphone 5S with, or without bluetooth connection. That system failed mostly I think due to the IPhone and bluetooth channels.
I have seen some contractors use PTT on Bell, and they say that it works well. I mentioned PTT to a inbound Telus sales rep and they just about hung up on me.
If PTT, I would prefer to stay with a third-party supply for dispatch using the phone's data, or wifi.
I have also seen PTT portables, so not sure how they would work?
Because this is security related, when the key is pressed, I would like the phone or communications device to operate and call without a lot of fuss with connections.
Any thoughts? Thanks.
