Hi All,

I am getting my first digital trunking scanner and after some research in this from (and other places), I decided to go with Uniden HP-2.

I found that Amazon has the best price (currently $409), which is a lot cheaper than other places. So I ordered mine from Amazon. But now I am wondering if there is anything wrong? like maybe they are selling an older revision/model/firmware.

Should I cancel the order and get it from Uniden website (which is currently listed $560)?

Thanks,

The Uniden website is way over priced. As long as it is new, you are good. There is no such thing as an older model or older anything.

All you need to do when you get it is check / do a firmware update as needed .. and you are good.

Do you have a link to Amazon for that listing? Maybe it's a refurbished unit?

As long as it is coming directly from Amazon, and not a third party, I would not be concerned. But even with third party purchases that are made through Amazon, you are fully protected by Amazon's satisfaction guarantees (unless they state otherwise, which is very rare.)

I have made numerous scanner and other electronic purchases through Amazon and have never been disappointed.

I'm sure you're excited about your new scanner--- I have the HP1 and absolutely love it--- I'm sure you will have many pleasurable hours with your HP2. Be prepared for a bit of a learning curve, don't get frustrated, and your unit will serve you well.

I see a couple of Amazon Marketplace sellers in the ~$409 range. These are labeled as new.

Uniden's website generally is not discounted. As UPMan has said in the past, they do not want to undercut the prices of their dealer network.

I bought my HP2 on Amazon back in June. At that time it was $439 (cheaper than everywhere else). It was a brand new unit and I have not had any problems.

Appears to be a new one to me. Wait til you get it and see. It is fulfilled by Amazon so if it is refurb or not new, you can send it back for a full refund. Good price!

I believe Amazon drop ships from the factory so they can cut out the expense of maintaining their own warehouse like other distributors which will keep their cost down passing the savings onto their customers.

Also I have has a HP-2 since they came out and I don't think there have been any Firmware updates yet.

I have an online Uniden dealer that I have purchased many scanners from and their price on the HP-2 is currently $418.95 shipped, so I think the prices are finally dropping.

I am planning on ordering an HP-2 through Amazon as well. How long did it take for it to be delivered?

I plan on using the free shipping option, but I may be willing to pay a few extra bucks if free shipping requires a lengthy shipment/receive date.
