My eyes must have been deceiving me then haha. Maybe I WANTED it to cost $1500 but in reality it was $2500.If you see a brand new APX 6000 advertised for $1,500...it fell off the back of a truck. The base Model 1.5 with no mode of operation or features added isn't even that cheap, currently $2,028.75 on NYS contract.

We paid $7300 ball park for APX8000XEs with P2, OTAR/OTAP, AES-256 and welfare (ADP) crypto, 5 year SFS. All radios included hi-cap batteries, SUCs and antennas/clips. This is with all bands, Bluetooth activated. Spring of 2016
APX6000 M2.5 single band 7/800 with similar feature set to the 8000s, right at $5300 a piece. Also bought a metric ton of IMPRES RSMs (one for each 6000). There were 1480 APX6000s on that order.
This was from MSI direct on a purchase bid.
YES! And as you noted, that's the base price. You aren't even allowed to purchase an APX without adding an Operating Mode. Even an analog-only APX6000 M3.5 with no other major features and a BIG high-volume discount will cost over $2500.

I find new/old from certified Motorola dealers on eBay, FULLY loaded with features, all the time. I would highly highly recommend Rocky Mountain communications. Bought an apx6000XE fully loaded and couldn’t be happier.

My buddy recently picked up a 6000BN UHF2 from them on eBay. Nice radio, works great, but it was 100% unquestionably hit with Depot CPS to whore it out, and when questioned the seller was less than honest or forthcoming about it. Does it ultimately matter? Probably not, he's happy with the radio and it's for hobby use anyway...but let's not pretend that "certified Motorola dealers" are all saints.I see fully loaded models brand new/old stock from Rocky Mountain communications.
The FC’s are usually returned to what they originally were, including upgrades that were legitimately purchased.Serious (not rhetorical) question:
Has anyone sent one of these eBay kludge radios to the Motorola Depot for repair? From what I see, a lot of these radios have had their FLASHCODE "tweaked". What happens when they get to the mother ship?
That's what I would expect. Unfortunately, my experience is running about 50-50 with getting purchased features restored - requiring a(nother) call to MOL and giving proof-of-purchase info, etc. to get the radios back to the correct/legit state. The FC’s are usually returned to what they originally were, including upgrades that were legitimately purchased.
I love me a whored out radio. I’m about to buy another BRAND NEW whored out radio from him too.My buddy recently picked up a 6000BN UHF2 from them on eBay. Frankly, the biggest issue was that RMC was specifically advertising to municipalities in the listing, which suggests that they were more than willing to sell radios of questionable origin to public safety users. The fact that anyone purchasing public safety radios would turn to eBay is a whole other problem unto itself, but the fact that they were even listed that way is pretty questionable behavior by a dealer.
AN revision? What GTR8000 said. I do use mine for public safety and that’s why I bought mine directly from M. Basic flash but the features suited my needs (at the time)
But HERE IS THE UNFORTUNATE PART; because I have an AN revision , I was told (by the dealer I bought it from four years ago) that he might not be able to flash upgrade features due to a service bulletin stating AN revisions might not be supported any longer.
So, despite know my radios province and being the original owner, it may soon be useless to me. That is in fact terrible and makes me no longer wonder why people use “other methods” for flash upgrades. I can’t even legitimately get one for a relatively new legitimate radio.
Check your APX's model number - it will either end in "AN" or "BN". the -AN models are starting to flood eBay because they are essentially EOL'd and companies are being encouraged to upgrade to -BN's. (e.g., the APX 6000 ENHANCED)AN revision?
Lol you don't want to know how much the APX NEXT costs![]()
