• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

    Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

    If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

    To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

    The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

    For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

    This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Do you have the cost of a 6kLi? I'm wondering what the price difference is between a 6k and 6kLi
The base model pricing remains the same; it's the FLASH options that reduce the price vs the "full feature" 6000.

Do you know the difference? I don’t know what’s “cut” from the“ light” model.
Same exact hardware, the difference is in the FLASH features. Specifically, a 6000Li can only do 3600 or 9600 trunking, but not both within the same codeplug. You can have multiple systems of either type in the radio, but only one or the other. For many users this is not an issue since they will only be operating on 9600 systems.

Here's an example of what a typical 700/800 6000Li FLASHcode looks like.

I thought the APX6000Li was discontinued with the -ANs. I guess I was wrong.

HAhahaha was just gonna say that in my previous message hahaha

Xts2500 = $2500
Xts5000 = $5000
Apx6000 = $6000

Etc etc

Astro Sabers were even several thousand dollars when they were new in the late 90’s as well.
Lol I heard that one. Except the APX6000, to my surprise, doesn't cost $6000. More like $1500 depending on features
the bids APX6000 for us were more like the $2500+ range for the 30 we were quoted
I got my apx 7000 brand new for $3,000. I thought it was very reasonable. It's black with blue trim and I posted photos at the request of the o p... See posts 47 and 56.

I have to admit - would love an APX8000XE ( or HXE ) but at the present time - can’t justify $8,000+ on a radio purchase lol

That’s a nice collection though !! All mine are now considered “vintage” haha but - they all work great and I have them benched every year to withen specs.

Hello. My FD is purchasing APX8000XE's. Any suggestions for a carry case? The Motorola one doesn't look like it is durable enough. Thank you. Henry

“Bee Leather” makes some really good ones. I believe they have the contract with FDNY, but not certain.
