Colorado State Patrol officers on the scene of a minor accident ended up pursuing a driver for 20 miles.
It happened around 10 a.m. on I-70, near mile-marker 237, west of Idaho Springs.
Troopers say while they were stopped at the accident scene, a driver in a gray BMW pulled over to talk with them. Because the officers believed the man was drunk, they asked him to get out of the car. He refused and took off.
Troopers followed him for 20 miles before they put out stop sticks. The driver ran over the stop sticks, lost control and hit a guardrail. At that point, the State Patrol says the man's car caught fire. He jumped out of the car and was taken into custody. The man was then taken to St. Anthony Central for treatment.
The Colorado State Patrol says the man will be charged with multiple felonies.
