I am new to swl and was looking to get some QSL cards. I have some adresses of broadcast stations I have heard and I was wondering how to go about getting QSL cards from those stations. Do I just send them a letter with the time and frequency that I heard them? Thanks, Lew.

What are you calling "broadcast" stations? If you mean shortwave broadcast writing a brief letter reception report including a log of approximately 30 minutes duration, that is a list of what you heard and when you heard it (times in GMT) that can be compared to the station log for verification you stand a good chance. On the other hand the SINPO code is meaningless to the engineer of a domestic standard broadcast station IF he even gets a look at it. Long story but QSLing these stations is a lost art.
