Im trying to program my TK-840 for GMRS usage and I've found a few repeaters in my area the are using DPL tones, one being 054 DPL. But when I am in the programming software I only see (ex. 82.5, D043N, D043I)..

My question is, what is the difference between the N and the I at the end of the number?
and is the TK-840 able to program 054 DPL

D043I would be inverted DPL, D043N would be non-inverted DPL. Set your radio to D054N.

If you look at DPL on a scope, it's kinda a lazy square wave. It has long and short short transitions that represent 1s and 0s.

What the receiving radio will do is use a center slicer, cut the waveform right down the middle, toss out one side and send the other off to be conditioned and then sent to the DPL decoder. Sometimes normal DPL doesn't work with a receiver because the center slicer is throwing out the wrong portion. By inverting the waveform, the correct side is selected and sent to the decoder.

Sure. And here's another weird thing. For every normal DPL, there is an inverted DPL that will also work, it's just a different number.
