I am trying to get back into monitoring weather image satellites. The above mentioned antenna is supposed to be the best for this purpose. Does anybody know if these are available already built? I googled it and all I came up with was plans for building one. If anyone knows of any other type of antenna that works well, please suggest it!

There was one on ebay a while back new in the box for that exact purpose. I don't recall how much it was.

I have used a quadrafilar helix made by Nationa lRF for over ten years. It really is an amazing antenna. I can get noise free images from about 3 degrees above the horizon. I don't know if they still make them. You probably will not find it listed in their catalog. I would drop them a line and see if they still build them. It was not cheap ten years ago, so I doubt it is today. Even then, it was made to order as they did not stock them.
