To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Having an issue with charging both of my Quansheng UVK5(8) radios since flashing with the egzumer firmware. Both radios will only charge to about 30%, even after charging overnight. I tried both cradles. I plugged directly into the USB C connector on the radios, using the cable that came with the radios. One radio is brand new and the other has maybe an hours’ use. Both were purchased less than 6 months ago.
The LEDs on both chargers are green when plugged in and stay green when I put the radio in the charging base. The charging LED on the radio never turns on. To me, this is an indication the batteries are fully charged and egzumer is misreporting the battery level. I have gone into the menu and selected the BatTyp is 1600 mAh and the BatCal is 7.38V (the batteries state 7.2 volts but I can’t get the voltage below 7.38)
Same thing when using the USB C port on the radio using a variety of wall warts and USB power banks.
When the radio is on and connected with the USB C connector, there is an icon at the top right that looks like a plug. When I disconnect the cable, this icon disappears. This indicates the radio is being charged.
When I connect a USB power meter in series it shows no current flow but when I disconnect the radio and connect a USB rechargeable flashlight using the same cable the USB power meter shows current flow.
My 45+ years of automotive diagnosis is telling me the batteries are fully charged but egzumer firmware is misreporting. However, I see nothing about a battery reporting issue with the egzumer firmware. I doubt I have two bad new batteries.

Any thoughts?

Something is not right, shouldn't matter what firmware you install. Check your charger base and wall wart. Except for the egzumer firmware, sounds like it is working and batteries good.
Maybe swap back to the original firmware and see where it stands. Easy to do and only takes minutes.

I connected a voltmeter to both charging bases and they read about 8.3 VDC open circuit.
I connected a voltmeter to the two connector pads on the back of the batteries and they both read about 8.1 VDC with the radio on but the radio displays 7.52 VDC.
This reaffirms the radio is not reporting the correct voltage. Have gone into the hidden menu and reset ALL

Do I use the Quansheng software to flash the factory firmware? If I select that, the GitHub link states incorrect version.

I loaded the ijv software and it reports battery is at 100%

I reloaded egzumer 0.22 and it reports 20%.

Ijv firmware reports battery correctly on both radios. Reloads of egzumer firmware still reported low battery.

Odd that this issue is not common.

Thanks for the help, Merlin.

I just flashed v22 and after hours of charging, it only goes up to about 80% battery on the screen.
Any new info about the issue?
