Having an issue with charging both of my Quansheng UVK5(8) radios since flashing with the egzumer firmware. Both radios will only charge to about 30%, even after charging overnight. I tried both cradles. I plugged directly into the USB C connector on the radios, using the cable that came with the radios. One radio is brand new and the other has maybe an hours’ use. Both were purchased less than 6 months ago.
The LEDs on both chargers are green when plugged in and stay green when I put the radio in the charging base. The charging LED on the radio never turns on. To me, this is an indication the batteries are fully charged and egzumer is misreporting the battery level. I have gone into the menu and selected the BatTyp is 1600 mAh and the BatCal is 7.38V (the batteries state 7.2 volts but I can’t get the voltage below 7.38)
Same thing when using the USB C port on the radio using a variety of wall warts and USB power banks.
When the radio is on and connected with the USB C connector, there is an icon at the top right that looks like a plug. When I disconnect the cable, this icon disappears. This indicates the radio is being charged.
When I connect a USB power meter in series it shows no current flow but when I disconnect the radio and connect a USB rechargeable flashlight using the same cable the USB power meter shows current flow.
My 45+ years of automotive diagnosis is telling me the batteries are fully charged but egzumer firmware is misreporting. However, I see nothing about a battery reporting issue with the egzumer firmware. I doubt I have two bad new batteries.
Any thoughts?
