• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Dear colleagues,

I would like to ask for some help and tips for programming Motorola MC Micro radio.
I know that this is a very old radio, however it works very well and I would like to use it for AMPS.
It is in the VHF band 136-174 MHz .
I have the RSS ( micromst) Field Programmer R01.02.01 / 17 Non 1987 , which I use with a very old laptop PC 386 , running DOS 5.20 , and the cable which I connect from RS232 port of PC to the 15 pin main radio unit (when control head is removed from radio) . I start the program from an FDD.
I load the ANSI.SYS file in config.sys, in order the RSS to be visualized properly . I switch off the cash as well.
Reading the radio is OK, although it shows some error message, I can see all the parameters of S-5 signalling system, as well as RX & TX frequencies for each channel.
However, after modification of channel info ( frequencies) , when trying to write to radio, it shows and error message and does not want to write the radio. When using the option to create a codeplug from scratch, I get the same result- an error message and does not want to write to radio...

The radio is EVA-9 model with display, 32 channel, 136-174 MHz sub-band.

I know that I am doing something wrong, but I do not know what exactly :)
If someone of you remember how to deal with these radios, I will appreciate .

Thanks in advance

Bob
