I aplogize if this is the wrong place to put it and if this question has been asked before, someone can just point me in the direction of other threads.

In the meantime, here is the situation...until about a week and a half ago I owned a 1998 Ford Taurus and whenever I had a day off I tossed one of my handheld scanners in with my other "day off" necessities and that was that. Well, now I have a new car. I went to a dealership just to look and ask questions and before I knew what was happening, I was signing away all my rights as someone who had money on payday. I went from having an unreliable car with only an am/fm radio with a cassette deck to an am/fm radio, cd player and aux connection (yay). I would like to have a more 'permanent' scanner in my car, but not something I can't take out if I wanted. So far, I've just put one of my scanners in a cup holder, but it's a little difficult to see the screen down there. So I guess what I'm asking is, is there a clip or something I can stick into the vent or something that will allow me to put my scanner at a higher, more viewble level?

As you can see from my signature, I have a RS Pro-106 and a Uniden 436hp and the area I'm working with is in a 2014 Nissan Versa Note. If anyone can give me any tips or advice I would appreciate it.

Thank you

Sorry it's sideways.

....and you got hooked by a crafty salesman.

Mobile Mounts from The Antenna Farm

Kind of, yeah. But i got the car i went to look at plus i got it with $0 down and i would have been looking at getting a new car in february or march. This way, i dont have to suffer through the remaining hot days without a/c and i have a working heater, both total plusses. :)

Thank you for the link to the antenna farm website. I'm guessing it was for the one you can put in the cup holder...? According to the website, the manufacturer has reduced the neck length from 4" to 2" so that won't work i dont think. The two cup holders in the front section are kind of underneath the area where the radio and climate control switches are. But you're definitely on the right track with that.

Brenda, ProClip has a mounting system that will clip to the air vent in your Note's dash center stack, right at eye level.

You pick the holder you want, followed by the mounting type you want. It's a custom solution.

Does this look like what you want?

Yeah, that looks great. Thank you. So, how do I know which one to get? Would I get one that's for a 2 way radio? But then they want to know the radio type and since the scanners aren't exactly 2 way radios, the makers aren't listed.

You would probably want to look at the universal holders and not radio specific. That, or just buy the dash mount from ProClip and then a holder from somewhere else and attach it to the dash mount.

**Update**

In case anyone is interested. I didn't like the mounts on the websites because they stuck out too far so I got a little creative. I used hook and loop fasteners before with my Ford and thought why not with the Nissan? But the store I went to didn't have the standard fastener, but rather it was a heavier duty kind that didn't use 2 different sides. You know, one side is the hook and the other is the loop. This kind sticks to itself. So, I stuck one side to my dash board and another side to the back of my scanner and figured I was good to go, right? Wrong. Everytime I went to take the scanner down for safe storage, it took the fastener with it. That wouldn't work . My mom actually came up with a 'fix': super glue. So I superglued one side to the dash and stuck the scanner to it. It holds on real well? Oh, and my dash doesn't look that horrible and dirty.

Anyway, when I have a passenger in my car, the scanner isn't up there so the vent isn't being blocked and when it is up, the vent is closed so the scanner isn't being blasted by the heater.

That looks good. I went the mic holder route that uses the stock Uniden mount. I think there are pics on the BCD436HP group.

Thank you. I would've liked to use a mic holder, but wouldn't that require some kind of drilling? Plus, it's a lot more noticeable when the scanner isn't in place and I was going for a more low-profile look.
