I know where there is a used PRO-96. I turned it on, it is programmed already. It receives and sounds good. The belt clip is broken, otherwise the body/case looks good. It has the RS 800 MHz instead of the stock antenna.

Is $150.00 a good price or should I avoid this?

Thank you for any advice and input.

absolutley a good deal . you might also consider getting a case instead of relying on the usually cheap belt clips

I agree jump on it, the belt clip is around $5 other than that it sounds good from your description, if you were to buy one on the net it would cost you more and you would be taking more of a gamble.

Sounds like a great price
Make sure you fully test it on a digital system (if you have one locally)
There are a lot of crappy Pro-96's around, that are going on 5 years old and well used not working too well that are being "dumped off" (I got one of them on here with multiple issues- but I also got another one that worked well - so its 50/50 ).

If you can buy it in person then even better then online.

Things to look for
CPU version
Screen issues (fading)
Reception Problems
Loose BNC connection (maybe points to being well used)
Backlight working
Keys faded
Volume working well?
Date Code 08A04 = August 2004
(look under the battery cover)

Just an FYI check with your local radio shack store a lot of them are clearing out the pro-96. I just purchased one this week brand new for 174.00.
