In the DB, we have Berea and Middleburg Hts listed under Westshore Region. I received a submission suggesting the following:

All entries for the cities of Berea and Middleburg Heights should be moved to the Southwest/South Central region. Olmsted Falls and Township could be listed in either.

I'd like the opinion of people familiar with those areas of Cuyahoga Co as to whether Berea / Middleburg Hts should remain in Westshore Region or be moved to Southwest / South Central Region.

Your input is appreciated.

Thanks

Mike

Well this is getting convoluted. Westshore should only be the lakeshore communities I would think. I really don't know the official status on this. I mentioned in another thread that "WESTCOM" was a five community dispatch region within "WESTSHORE". I suppose the southern agencies you mentioned should really be in Southwest/South Central areawise. Then again some are on the "SWRCN" dispatch/radio system. Don't know the answer where they should go.

I think it's a matter of area wise vs system wise.

Berea and Middleburg Hts should definitely be moved to the Southwest/South Central Region. Too bad moving Middleburg Hts police dispatch channel back into the clear isn't as easy.

Define "into the clear" -- I'm unsure what you mean, nor do I understand why it would be difficult to move it.

I moved the Berea and Middleburg Hts Law Enforcement, Fire, Public Works and Schools entries [that were listed under the Westshore Region agency page] to the Southwest/South Central Region agency page.

Still unclear about Dave's comment of Middleburg Hts "in the clear". Is Middleburg Hts PD P25 encryption / TRBO / voice inversion or something?

Mike,

Yes, Middleburg is encrypted. I was just making a joke. In fact, Middleburg, North Royalton, and Strongsville have all gone to the dark side. Do you want me to submit that so the DB can be updated?

Yes they are using encryption for the PD at least.

Ed -- so is this P25 encrypted? Or is this MotoTRBO or Nexedge digital, or is it analog FM with voice inversion? Just wondering. Do you happen to know?

If it were P25 encrypted, you'd still see it show up on a scanner and it would reveal that it was a P25 sig [and probably would list a NAC].

Dave,

We are talking about 155.565, yes?

Oh yes, pleaes do submit all of that info. If you submit it I'll make the changes :)

Please submit it via the "Submit" button on this page: Southwest/South Central Region Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

And, you're saying that 155.565 and 159.21 are (a) P25 encrypted or (b) just not used these days because they use their SWRCN talkgroups?

Ed -- so is this P25 encrypted?
Mike

I was referring to SWRCN not 155.565. I don't think they are on VHF any longer. In my trips to that area in which I have family and friends I have not heard a peep on my FT8800R in the car on 155.565. I can't hear SWRCN here at home in Summit Co.

I hear Broadview Hts. and 7 Hills on 159.21 regularly. Have not heard N. Royalton on VHF.

Ok thanks. Keep in mind, this discussion is specifically about the agency pages for Westshore Region and Southwest / South Central Region. [i.e. dealing mainly with conventional freqs].

That's why i'm getting confused rofl. Ok, so 155.565 can probably be listed as deprecated if it hasn't been active. Do you know if this is also the case for 159.21 North Royalton?

Mike,

I sent you some links in my submission to answer many of those questions. I can confirm that N. Royalton no longer uses 159.21. It is only used by Broadview Hts. and 7 Hills

Sorry I took this thread off topic.

That's okay. It's apparent that we are missing some updates, so we'll get to em now.

Thanks to both of you for the updates.

Ok here is what I did:

1. SWRCN

- added 33744 Strongsville PD Dispatch (digital encrypted)
- set 336 Strongsville PD (analog) to deprecated
- added 49904 Middleburg Heights City Services (digital)

2. Southwest / South Central Region agency page

- deprecated a few conventional frequencies for agencies that are now on SWRCN

- added SWRCN trunked system references under the various law enforcement / fire department sections for various agencies who are now on SWRCN, so that if people look at the agency page they can understand that those agencies are on the SWRCN and aren't left flying blind wondering.

Specifically for the Southwest / South Central Region agency page (and its associated cities/agencies on the SWRCN), if you see anything else that needs changed, let me know.

I didn't add the "tentative" talkgroups, and obviously it'll be difficult for anybody to ever pinpoint the agency using them with accuracy given that they are encrypted. But the DB is better than it was :)
