Question about Chester County fire dispatching

I have been listening to Chester County fire dispatch (160.185) from the York area for a bit now. It's interesting to listen to. Can anyone tell me what the very short two-tone beeps are that preceed and follow dispatches. I'm not talking about the quick-call paging tones. And what is the purpose of the data burst at the very end of each dispatch.

I do find it quite interesting that there is a built-in repeat of the dispatch. Can anyone tell me if the first part of the dispatch is real-time, or is it recorded and transmitted when there is free air. Any other technical tidbits about this system would be greatly appreciated. Oh, one more question, what type of pagers are used?

The two-tone short beeps are really nothing more than seperator tones. Kind of an attention getter I guess. The data burst also to my knowledge serves no technical purpose either, other than to signify the unkey of the dispatcher.

The dispatchers speak into a microphone on the computer and record it. Once it is recorded, they will select which tones need to be sent and will send the voice message along with it. Nothing of dispatch is real-time, however.

Chester County also uses Minitor 3 or 4 pagers, which 2 channel capability. Dispatch will be in channel 1, and the ops repeated channel for that specific department will be in channel 2, so you can monitor after you're dispatched.

You also might notice a second set of tones going out after the voice message. Chester County has separate siren tones, so that they do not set the siren off until after the voice message is put out.
