I wasn't aware they had frequencies assigned to them in the 800mhz band. If they do, what are the frequencies and are they active?

I have been looking, I have not seen any 800MHZ antennas on any of the cars all are still VHF.

It could be that they are using portable radios instead of mounted car radios. The Richmond Co. Sheriff's Office uses portables, and they have no antennas on their cars except for CB radio antennas and the Mobile Terminal Computers antennas.

I've scanned all of those 800 frequencies without hearing any signals in Columbia or Richmond Counties.

Has anyone heard traffic on these? I don't believe they're active.

May be related to the build out of the new Statewide GEWIN network. Richmond County uses the South Carolina Palmetto 800 system, but will probably also access GEWIN.

Columbia Co will be going to a trunking system in about a year or so. They are currently working on their computer system once that is in place they will work interconnecting the trunking system.

Thanks for the info Jacob. Cant wait to hear the new system come online. Im sure most who are gonna read this have noticed they have already started using "plain talk" instead of 10 codes. Guess that means no more friends riding with me asking "what do those numbers mean?" LOL!!

This morning (02/12/07) I heard what sounded like a Control Channel on 868.4250, but it was only on for 15-20 seconds at a time with 5-10 minutes in between. It lasted for about 30 minutes and went away.

Might have been testing equipment.

ID for 453.65

I just started using an outdoor VHF antenna. Who in the CSRA area uses
453.65MZ?? Maybe Aiken?? I live in Martinez and did not receive it with my built in antenna. Thanks!
