On page 33 of the owner's manual for the PRO-96, it says in tiny print (about two nanometers high) in the margin "When monitoring Motorola trunked radio systems, it is only necessary to program the trunking control channel", then it says "For APCO 25 trunking systems using the 9600 bps control channel, program the system using the steps outlined above for Motorola systems."

Really??!

My parents live in Batesville, Arkansas, and I occasionally go up to visit them. So, do I only need to program in the control channel and not any of the other trunk frequencies? Thanx!

this is true. If it is the AWIN (Arkansas State Police) system, all you have to do is put in the control channels.

If it is another Motorola system (not 9600bps) then program the control channels and set the scanner to Control Channel only.

It works great and saves space!
