Also, what is that freq licensed to? A little googling brought me to a "mobile transmitter" out of a specific state.

well this is a small town and he is a very good friend of mine...and is our local sheriff i was wondering if the scanner i am getting goes up that far in freq not for the reason of ease dropping, but as to curious to what band that would be because it was so much different then all the other freqs the way it was layed out! Thanks

I feel obligated to warn you that monitoring phones is very illegal. But with that said, if hes a really good friend, I have no objections. Regardless, you won't be able to monitor any newer phone with that scanner, and possibly any consumer grade equipment.

WOW, i didnt even have a clue thats what that may be, i was thinking it had something to do with the sherriff department, that just goes to show how amatuer i am to this, thanks for the heads up on that, still have alot to learn , thats why i ask!

How did you hear about 2461.500? I'm not 100% sure it's a phone freq. But it is in the 2.4ghz range. Just curious how you came up with that freq.

i was on another site and it list all the registered fcc freqs in my town and i was looking at all of them and when i got to the bottom there were around 10 or so that were high up in freq like that one!!!
looking at the license WPZT280 comes back to what appears to be a repeater and also states it is a govt entity
With 2 freqs of 2461.5 and 2465.5 different but could be the sheriff

My guess is a microwave link between the data terminal in the cars and the dispatch.
Edit: After looking in the database here on RR, your county is on VHF lo, VHF hi, and UHF. It also includes a LTR Passport system. It may be a link to the Passport system via the VHF radios in the cars. Just a guess.

It is beyond me.. im not buying a AR-one to find out though, lol. i think the bcd996xt will be enough for me, i like listening to 2 meter and 440 meter alot, im really just in it to listen to all police and state troopers! Im pretty simple, but i guess i like to have the peace of mind that i have a scanner that will meet all my expectations for the money!
