Question About Loudoun Co

How come Loudoun use the just there station number (i.e Engine 3) instead of using the COG Number (i.e Engine 603)???

I don't know for sure why they don't use COG ids. One reason may be that they respond to Maryland and West Virginia. It is easier for the dispatchers in those areas just to hear the IDs that they have been hearing for a long time. When things get fast and complicated in the field it is much easier to use language that is familiar.

They do but only when responding to other jurisdictions that follow the COG.
