To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

While I had MTrunker32 and my scanner running, I heard a weird sound. It sounded like someone was being steped over, but slightly different. I heard a garbled voice, and then the frequency went silent. As soon as the frequency went silent, MTrunker32 displayed "-----" in the Radio ID column. I heard a couple DigiTAC clicks and than the transmission stopped. The talkgroup this happened on is "North Dispatch". Does anyone know what exactally happened on the TRS? Attached is a screen shot of MTrunker32.

EDIT: Ah. I forgot about the Motorola Trunking Discussion Forum, can someone move it there, please?

Although I can't answer your question, I have a question for you. I am not familiar with any trunker software, but I see two columns labeled "ID". What are those numbers for ? The reason I ask is because they don't correspond with the actual Talk Group IDs for the Talk Groups shown. Eg: North Dispatch is 288, South Mobile is 384, etc.

Talking over

I'm no expert on Type II analog either but, over the years, I've heard many times the exact same kind of sound when two people talk over each other in an analog repeater. So I'm almost certain this is what it is. I mean it doesn't happen alot, so perhaps its an underreported bug in Type II?

The first colum is the talkgroup in HEX format, the second colum is the users radio ID. Hope this helps :)

I think that's just what it was, someone talked over another. Some systems allow this, which is usually a result of not programming mobiles for "PTT-ID." This would cause them to go back to the control channel to revalidate themselves before replying to a convo. The system would have disallowed them to walkover someone else if so.

Hi there Joe, I'm using Mtrunker32 and T4win software to monitor the 400 Mhz Type II system that I have. I am a bit confused on how to navigate through the MTrunker software. With either of the two software can I somehow find out the base, offset and step information so that the scanner can track it properly

T4Win cannot be used on UHF systems, so you'll have to use MTrunker32. To my knowledge, it can't help you find the Custom Frequency Table for that system.

When T4WIN hears a control channel and it asks you to input the frequency, you type in the freq. If you have more than one frequency entered into T4WIN, you can use the extrapolate feature to get the other frequencies. Granted, it doesn't do it automatically like on 800 MHz systems, but it is very useful.

I use it along side Uni-Trunker with great results.

When running T4Win on my local UHF TRS, I noticed it logs non-exsistant talkgroups. I don't have any problems running Trunker on the same system. Also, how do I enter in the Custom Frequency Table for the system?

I'm not sure why you're getting wrong data. You have to make sure that you have the right frequencies for receive. Once that is right, the rest should work properly. At least it does for me.
