Question about system IDs

Hi all,

Is it normal to have multiple MPT1327 systems broadcasting the same system ID? I've got one system of four sites that are broadcasting hex SYS IDs 2309, 2311, 2319, and 2321. Another system with three sites is using 2309, 2311, and 2319. Another three site system is using 2309, 0051, and a site I haven't been able to check out yet. All this data is coming to me from Trunkito for Windows, and I've been getting a fairly decent signal each time.

I thought sysid's would be similar to Motorola's, where they are unique to each system.

Am I misunderstanding the way MPT1327 works?

Another question - does Trunkito for Windows show radio IDs or just talkgroup info? So far, on these relatively quiet systems, I've seen only talkgroup data, though I think they do private call radio-to-radio stuff fairly often.

The answer is-----the Syscode for each site is SUPPOSED to be unique. MPT has two Syscode formats---one is a national, for one of two national providers (I used the national Syscodes on the Electric Coop systems that used nation-wide NRTC channels). The other format is for regional systems with one of one-hundred-twenty-eight regional provider numbers and one of sixteen site numbers. But Fylde (for sure), (I think) Tait and Zetron systems are shipped with 2309 as a default Syscode. The reqional ID number allows up to 16 sites with a specific Regional Provider Number. (System constraint demands all Syscodes end with a deicmal one or a nine) So, most people, not knowing really how MPT is supposed to work, just begin counting sites using the default 2309. It will actually work OK because each provider authorizes mobiles by System ID and some envoke ESN checking, so only mobiles authorized on a specific system will register. I would be interested in the info on those systems----where and who and channels. Thanks, Jim Sharp
