Is the GRE PSR 500 and the Radio Shack Pro-96 virtually the same? I know they are made by the same people. The reason why I ask is that I am thinking about getting a PSR 500. I had a Pro-96 before and it came across horribly in my area because of this CQPSK modulation stuff. I had to sell that and get a Uniden BCD396T because I heard on here that it would work somewhat better here and it has. Still not perfect but significantly better. Just wondering if I would have the same problem with the PSR 500 as I did with the Pro-96, as the are made by the same people. Thanks!

They are not even close to the same scanner.

CQPSK is more depending on your antenna/location than radio, but in general the PSR500 is better.

I'm pretty sure I get your answer but just to make sure you mean that in terms of how it's made and not it's features right?
I'm just trying to avoid having the same problem I did with that awful 96.
Would you say it's better than the Uniden 396?
