here's the situation...I'm looking to get a little better reception on a few UHF frequencies that I monitor out of state..I can recieve them now, with my Diamond discone, and LMR-400, pretty good, but I feel that there is always room for improvent..the 2 frequencies that I'm refering to are
453.500 MHZ, and 484.7125 MHZ.. Now here's my problem..I haven't been able to find a yagi that is tuned to recieve BOTH of these frequencies..I did however find 2 seperate yagis that will recieve 450-470MHZ, and the other 470-512.. does anyone know of a yagi that will cover 450-512 MHZ? thanx for all your help! :D :D :D

I would use the 450-470 one and your gain will be a bit off at 484.

Yagis are not very wide band antennas. You would need a Log Periodic for wide band use. But the difference may not be significant in real terms.

Jay's correct, Yagi antennas are not very broadband. If you were to build one just make the center frequency directly in the middle of the two frequencies you are trying to receive. That in combination with your LMR400 should be plenty to make the listening easy on your ears. If your really determined you can use some LMR600, I use it on all my antennas because i was able to find it cheap, it works great, and every db counts.
