Im not exactly sure (as I dont use the CC only programming).. so UPMan will have to answer...

But it never hurts to put all the frequencies in (you dont need to put in every single ID - or even put in ANY ID's... just put it on ID SEARCH).

So if your having problems at the moment while waiting for UPMan try to put in the other frequencies (there should only be about 3-10 more frequencies to put in... then make sure its on ID SEARCH.

Correct you can still get the system.
Actually programming in ALL the frequencies use to be the proper way of programming in a trunking system.

Again you wont have to kill yourself putting in ALL ID's just put in all the frequencies then put in ID Search.

If later you wish to go back to CC-Only scanning you can

Med, If you put all the frequencies in, as you drive around with your 996, it will find another control channel, and keep going. Remember Jefferson County, and the Birmingham DPS are large systems. I can't hear all the control channels from my QTH with the 80 foot ham tower I had. So the complete frequency list works well for me on both my radios.
