Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference
154.16000 KC5112 BM CSQ Cal EMA 1 Cal EMA Fire Net FM Interop
154.16000 KC5112 RM CSQ Cal EMA 1A Cal EMA Fire Net FM Interop
154.16000 KC5112 RM CSQ Cal EMA 1B Cal EMA Fire Net FM Interop
154.22000 KC5112 BM CSQ Cal EMA 2 Cal EMA Fire Net FM Interop
154.22000 KC5112 RM CSQ Cal EMA 2A Cal EMA Fire Net FM Interop
154.22000 KC5112 RM CSQ Cal EMA 2B Cal EMA Fire Net FM Interop
153.83000 M OES Fire Tac Cal EMA Fire Tactical - portable use only FM Interop

1. Why are there duplicate frequencies? These are all marked as CSQ.

2. According to Section 6.2.3 of the DB Admin Guide:
"Subcategory names should not repeat or duplicate information provided by the category in which it is located". In this case, the category name is "Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA) ". Why does Cal EMA need to be present in the channel name? Aren't all the channels in this page Cal EMA?

Also while we're here, the descriptions of Fire White tacticals need to be updated. The Alpha tags indicate the channel name/numbering, but the numbering is missing from the Description fields:
154.28000 KC5112 BM CSQ WHITE FIRE 1 Statewide Fire Mutual Aid - Point to Point and Calling channel only FM Interop
154.26500 KC5112 M CSQ WHITE FIRE 2 Statewide Fire Mutual Aid - Mobile Use only FM Interop
154.29500 KC5112 M CSQ WHITE FIRE 3 Statewide Fire Mutual Aid - Mobile Use only FM Interop

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3GS: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8C148a Safari/6533.18.5)

Question #1, they appear to be different channels with the same outputs. The inputs are different, so that's probably why.

Each frequency has three modes: Simplex (the first entry "BM" with no input), Repeater A (second entry "RM" with input A) and Repeater B (third entry "RM" with input B). Those look like unique entries to me. You may want to enable Show Input Frequencies, you could've figured this out on your own if you had. ;)

154.160 BM CSQ Cal EMA 1 Cal EMA Fire Net (SIMPLEX)
154.160 159.135 RM CSQ Cal EMA 1A Cal EMA Fire Net (REPEATER A)
154.160 159.195 RM CSQ Cal EMA 1B Cal EMA Fire Net (REPEATER B)

154.220 BM CSQ Cal EMA 2 Cal EMA Fire Net (SIMPLEX)
154.220 159.135 RM CSQ Cal EMA 2A Cal EMA Fire Net (REPEATER A)
154.220 159.195 RM CSQ Cal EMA 2B Cal EMA Fire Net (REPEATER B)

Yes, but the channel name is "CAL EMA #x" so no, it is not duplicate information.

And I will change that when the state officially changes them in the Radio Guide. It is expected to happen before fire season, but not confirmed...and it has not been officially declared when they are going to narrowband them or any other EMA frequency. EMA is behind everyone else on narrowbanding...

1. They are not duplicate frequencies. As other posters have stated, each entry is in some way unique. It is an odd system, I have to admit.

2. Those channels were originally named "OES 1, OES 1A, OES 1B", etc. OES became EMA. Earlier this year, they officially changed the name of those channels to "Cal EMA 1, Cal EMA 1A", etc. Because that is the true name of the channel, and that name is the ONLY name allowed for those frequencies statewide, it is appropriate to have the full channel name in the both the alpha tag and the description.

I actually stumbled across those changes last week while reviewing the California I-FOG manual for another work project. So, I updated the database as well. The White and CLEMARS channels have not been officially changed yet. No EMA channels have been narrowbanded yet. When it happens, I'll update again.
