I have a question about an issue I'm having with EZScan programming my WS1095 and I'm wondering if anyone may have experienced it before.

I currently have a few systems already programmed into my 1095 via EZScan. I am trying to import another P25 system (for another state police troop area I sometimes travel to) and for some reason instead of creating a new system in my Trunked Systems upon import, it adds the sites and talkgroups to one of my existing systems (the first one in my list).

Any idea what I'm doing wrong? Or what the software is doing wrong? Trick to making it work?

Funny thing is I've done it before but I don't know why it isn't working correctly this time. I've closed the program and reopened it, tried it all the ways I can think of, and still am having this issue.

Hi Mark,

I can only comment on the "Standard" Import method. I suggest selecting "All" for both Sites and TGs. Later you can delete or avoid undesired Sites and TGs. When you see the option screen shown in the attachment is probably where your problem lies.

(see attachment)

I would strongly suggest selecting "Clear All" for the Scanlists to import to. This will force the import into the "Unassigned Objects" Scanlist (hidden just above Scan List #001). In the attachment, if I import as is, all objects will go into the PhxPD Scanlist, whether I want that or not. Also, off screen in the attachment are 190 more Scanlists, any of which might be checked by accident.

Then, via the Scanlist Tab (center bottom), open the "Unassigned Objects" Scanlist and distribute the "Objects" to the Scanlist/s of your choice.

Thanks for the info. That still didn't work. Seems like a big glitch in the EZScan software; maybe Whistler will fix it. Here is what I do, just to run through it:

Open EZScan
Go to the Library Import tab
Select Preferred under type
Select Arkansas
Select Systems under Data Type
Click Next
Select the System from the list, click Sites
Whether I leave it with all selected or select just a few, doesn't change the results
Click Talkgroups, same as above (select a few or leave it on all, no change)
Click Import at bottom right
Whether I clear all scanlists or select one, doesn't matter
Clicking import then adds the sites to my 00001 system under Trunked Radio Systems and all talkgroups under that (or to unassigned if I follow your suggestion)

Either way, it does not add a new system under Trunked Systems as it should.

Crazy.

You're missing the part where you can tell EZScan where to place the data. after you click on "import selected channels" the next screen shows you the available scan lists and its always defaulted to SL 1. You need to uncheck SL 1 and check the SL you want to have it import into.

Not missing that. I deselect the first one and select the one I created for this system (or don't select one at all) and get the same results...

EDIT: If I import from a different system all together (i.e. Tennessee's TACN system whereas I'm in Arkansas and we have AWIN) then it adds the system as a separate system. It must have to do with it importing info from the same system, despite telling it to import different sites and TG's.

I'm going to hit "duplicate" on the system, then add the new sites and TG's I want, then just delete the original ones I don't want in that one, and do it that way. I think that will work. Still seems like a glitch to me...

I just tried it (I used Arkansas as well) .. it works fine for me.

So you already had the AWIN system in your EZScan and it let you add it again and created a new system?

No .. I live in Canada. No trunked systems other than my 2 local systems (1-Edacs / 1-P25) (blacked out).

I should note that I have do not use the RR database except for one 300 site P25 system that is still somewhat in testing here (at least in my area). Otherwise I do all my programming by hand and not via the library.

So the fact that I can do it .. and know nothing about importing from the RR database, that tells me that not a lot is broken.

Note .. I did not see 'Preferred' as you noted above, I used systems. Maybe that is where your issue is ?

It's under Import type, first step. Drop down list has: Preferred, By City, By County, By Zip Code. I tried others, same result.

The issue is importing info from the same system won't create a new system, just append to one that already exists from the same system. Crazy but that's it. I have figured out a work around. Just a glitch in EZScan.

I know how to import; I can import other systems just fine. It's just importing new sites and TG's from a system already in EZScan just adds that info to the 'system' already in there instead of creating a new system. Oh well.

I do not have that at all in my software. And I have the latest software version. I wonder if that is cause my band plan is not set to US. So maybe someone else can help you on this one.

Hope things work out

Hmm...possibly that is the difference. I have the latest as well, at least according to the check that it performs on startup. Since I found a work around I'm not as frustrated, but it's still odd. Anyway, appreciate the help!
