I have a Pro-95 which I purchased an adapta-plug set for. When I first bought it, the manual had stated a plug that didn't fit exactly right, so I took it back and got the one that fit better. I am trying to figure out, and I can't read the letter on the plug anymore, but wanted to know if this cable will work on my 96 also.

As I recall from the discussion when the 95 first came out, it was decided that the "B" adaptaplug was the best fit. My new Pro-83 also uses the same plug, so maybe they have standardized on that size.

The pro 96 uses the "C" plug the Pro 95 uses "B" the "B" plug also works great on the Pro 83 and Uniden BC 246t.

I have a pro-82. I purchased a multi purpose adapter @ walmart. Goes from 1.5 volts to 12 with a selector switch. Before I plugged it into the power source I was looking to see which plug fit. When I found the right one the unit powered off. Remember it is not yet plugged it to the wall or the power source. I unplug it and it comes back on. I verify polarity and plug it in to the adapter. Once again it powers off. It is 300mA.

Thanks for your help.

Does it come back on when you leave it attached and turn the radio off and then back on?

Nope. I am going to get my meter and check to make sure this thing is putting out.

It is putting out. 14.38 volts no matter what the selection is. Still doesnt explain why it would power off with no power applied but luckily it didnt blow my scanner up.

Guess that is normal operation. I went to RS and purchased the correct adapter with a "C" adaptaplug and it works perfectly.

Hey Pills,I think I know which one you got from walmart.I've got the same one running on my rs-92 pro scanner.Theres a little symbol on it where the wires connector is for the polarity. Also the reason it showed the voltage that high is most likely you checked it while it wasn't under a load..If you plugged the adapter into the scanner with the wallwart not plugged in to the ac outlet the scanner will turn off since its bypassing the batteries...

I quadruple checked the polarity. Tried all the different plugsthat would fit. I will keep it around but the one from RS works great. Put my rechargeable batteries in and it charges too.
