So I plan to run five or so scanners off one antenna and recently purchased an "Electroline EDA-UG2802 Zero-Loss 8-port CATV Amp-Splitter" used off eBay. The amp comes with the power supply, but not the "Remote Power Inserter". After research, I see the "Remote Power Inserter" is optional but is it something that I should use for my setup? I am assuming I will either plug the power supply directly into the amp or this inserter can be used.

Thank you for any guidance.

The Remote Power Inserter is for installations where it might be more convenient to run the power on 75 ohm coax rather than from a separate DC two-conductor power line such as that found on the "wall wart" power supplies. It's not a required item.... if you can plug your the DC plug from your "wall wart" supply directly into the splitter / amp.... do it.

So when I run the power supply directly to the amp, am I going to use 75ohm coax as well?

It appears you will since the wall wart has a type F connector as well. If the splitter is mounted near the receivers, you don't need the remote power inserter.
