• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I have an NX-800HK. Where can I adjust the power setting?

I just deleted several channels a few minutes ago. I’m trying to write to the radio now. I’m getting an error message that says one or more errors have been detected in the following: Home CH/GID

How can I fix that please?

I’m using KPG-111D to program it.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

That means you have a button set for home channel, but you deleted the channel that was set for that.

As for adjusting power:
In the channel edit, select high or low.

But, per your earlier PM you sent me, the HK model will only go down to 10 watts output, and that's going to pull 8 amps. Your power supply is only rated to 5 amps output. When you try to transmit, it's going to overload the power supply. The power supply will either shut down, or the voltage is going to drop and the radio will restart.

Do ——NOT—— go into the service settings and start adjusting the low transmit power adjust trying to change this. The process for adjusting the power output of the transmitter requires many steps and the correct test equipment. Not following the entire procedure laid out on the service manual and not using the correct calibrated test equipment, can result in your radio going unstable.

You need to either get a power supply that will do more than 5 amps (I'd recommend at -least- 13 amps), or you need to get a non-H model radio that will do 5 watts on low power and only draw 5 amps.

OK, just don't want to see you damage your radio. I've seen people do this, thinking they were doing the right thing.

Really, get an appropriate power supply and you'll solve the problem.
