I've been using a Pro96 for almost a year now here in Richmond. The strange thing is this, I mostly hear traffic in the Richmond City talk groups, very little traffic in Henrico and hardly hear anything in Chesterfield.

I have the v-folder loaded, etc. Any ideas?

I'm not really familiar with any of the programing stuff for this scanner yet.

Thanks in advance!

In Hopewell, I'm picking up plenty of talk on Richmond, Chesterfield, Henrico and Colonial Heights. You may want to make sure you have ALL the frequencies and talkgroups programmed in.

V-Scanner is missing these two Alt CC'c for Richmond 868.51250* 868.70000*. However, the absence of these two should only be problem if they changed from pri control to one of these alts. Though I think if you can hear the CC's for Chesterfield or Henrico, you should still be able to scan the complete system either in Open Mode or all unlocked programmed TG's in Closed Mode.

BTW, Looking at the RRDatabase, I would have the ID's programmed different then what is offered in Folder 6 of V-Scanner though you should still hear plenty of activity in the other two county systems with your setup.

Edit: Manually step through each frequency and make sure you hear the CC's and none are locked out. Also, verify each have MO in upper right corner of display.

I just got my pro 96 the other day, loaded the v-folder to listen to primarily chesterfield. I was confused and thought all I was hearing was richmond because thats what they have the bank named, Richmond TRS. I looked on the RR database and found out chesterfield comes up as North 1, 2 and tac, along with South 1, 2, and tac. Could you be getting confused like I did or am i just an idiot  .

Thanks for the help, I'm going through the instructions again as this scanner is a little more than I'm used to......

Edit: I went through the Richmond TRS channels and it looks like the primary control channels are there, however, when I stopped on the primary for Chesterfield, the percentage it gives you at the bottom was much lower than the others for Henrico and Richmond. The MO was in the upper right corner on all of these.

Not getting enough signal perhaps? I am using this in my office....

Thanks

Lee

Likely the major problem. Make sure you do program the two alt CC's i previously listed because Richmond may shut the pri down for maint. at times.

I pulled the Radio Shack V-scanner file, and found that ALL control channels had been marked "Richmond TRS". If you re-label them, you will have a better idea of who's CC's you're picking up.

I also found that all the Chesterfield TG's were in ID sub-bank 7-0. You could isolate them by locking out sub-banks 7-1 and 7-2 in a pinch.

You should not miss any police, fire or EMS dispatching. All CC's carry all dispatch traffic plus the fire/EMS incident tacs. Local gov't and police surveillance are often strictly on their home systems. Colonial Heights us normally just on the Chesterfield system.

I have a much better and much more thorough V-scanner file that you can have for your radio. Send me an email or a private message, and I'll either email you the file or we'll get together and I'll download it to you.

I tried to upload it here, but the file extension was not acceptable to the BB.

Add .txt to end of file, then upload to the BB. Lee will need to remove the .txt after download.

The steps for toggling sub-banks is on page 91 in the owners manual.
