Are the new Freq's for Tangipahoah in usage yet for the SO? Have noticed that the old freq of 151.070 is still active though no longer liscensed. Will be travelling through Tangi in May, and would love to know if all the new stuff is up and running. TY in advance!

What are some of the new frequencies you are talking about?? Let me know and I will listen for you. I work in Hammond and as far as I can tell the S.O. is still using the same frequencies it has been for a long time. However, alot of local F.D.'s have been switching over to narrowband stuff. Also, it appears that there has been a rapid move away from all the low band frequencies in the parish. I had a fireman tell me the government has told the parish that lowband can no longer be used. This does not make any sense but for whatever reason, it appears all lowband is out. I have noticed that the low band antennae on the S.O. cars has been removed (it used to be like a secondary use frequency-- car-to-car,private talk, whatever)

These are in addition to 154.8300.

All these are listed as repeaters.

Oh and the reason the government no longer wants lo band used is that there is no way to set up lo band as APCO-P-25 or to trunk lo band with current technology that will prevent troubles with skip. That is why in MS all agencies are being slowly forced off lo band here. It seems that this will be good and bad,... good that when everyone is on hi band, or UHF, or trunked in some format, they will be able to be monitored easier for the most part,... except of course the EDACS ProVoice stuff, and if a digital format of LTR is used. Bad in the sense that interop between some agencies will be history untill the conversions are all done. I don't forsee lo band being completely gone for at least another five years though since LSP still has it and its the only way right now for LSP to talk to MHP, untill LSP designates a hi band chan for this usage. I will be monitoring to watch for a change and will update the DB here and on my Yahoo group when it happens.

I have not heard anything on these frequencies the past two weeks. So, I guess that we'll have to wait a little while longer. I'll post if I start hearing trafffic on these frequencies.

Amite Fire is loud and clear here in the Baton Rouge area on 154.34. This is a problem for me since I often monitor West Baton Rouge Parish Fire Dispatch on that freq and having Amite on the same channel causes confusion and interference sometimes.

New Chans UP!

As of this morning, 155.1525 is active and being used by TPSO as chan 4!

154.8300 is still chan 1- Dispatch 1
151.0700 was still being used as chan 2- Dispatch 2/Info.

I will keep listening to see if the rest start having activity.
