Question relating to programming cables

Just for ha-ha's. The end opposite the USB side (the side that actually fits into your 396/996/296, etc) what type of connector is that? I know the different cables are wired different, but I've seen other cables available that you can use with GRE radios (I own both types Uniden and GRE/Radio Shack). While I will swear by Uniden for Durability, I still own a few GRE/Radio Shack radios. Reason I'm asking is, I had to get a replacement cable for a BC296D and the only place I could find was on Ebay in Canada and the thing took A-While to get here. Granted, I like having newer radios, but I do have a few older ones that are still pretty usable, so I'd like to know my options

396/996 are this type of mini USB connector.

Been a while sonce I had my 296 but it is another type of connector, IIRC also mini USB.
