My mom has a scanner and it TURNS ON and after a while it turns off. She has changed the batteries SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T BATTERIES AND SWITCHED PLUG IN TOO- is the radio shot it's about 5 yrs old or could it be something else? Thanks everyone! Christine kcccjc@sbcglobal.net

Out of curiosity...what type of scanner is it?
At first glance it appears to be haunted, have you talked to a priest? Seriously, you haven't properly identified the ghost in the machine, I haven't heard of many radios that turn on and off by themselves. I suppose it just quits rather than switching off so how do you get it going again? Even taking a stab in the dark and diagnosing by remote control we need a starting point.
