Just got a 536hp. I added THP district 5 dispatch to my favorites list, but it seems the scanner scans the entire TACN system, all the counties and groups because I added that one thing to my favorites? It takes forever to scan through that system with most of it being encrypted or way out of my receiving range. Is there any way to have it just scan that one "thing" in my favorites without it scanning through the entire system? I miss out on alot of traffic on my othet favorites due to this. Thanks in advance!

When you append something it adds the whole system, sites and departments. Simply read the scanner back into Sentinel, and edit that favorites list. Either set all unwanted depts/sites to Avoid, or, assign all depts/sites a quick key and selectively turn on and off what you want.

The best approach is to create favorites list(s) for your local area. What is your city or town and county so we can take a look at the database?

This is one drawback to using Sentinel for programming. It appends all sites, depts & talkgroups whether you want them or not then you need to go to the FL editor and remove the items you don't need. One solution to avoid the inconvenience would be to get a RR premium subscription to utilize RR's web import service and use Proscan for programming. Proscan allows for greater selectivity & FL customizations over Sentinel. Use the 30 day free trial to program what you need then $50.00 gets you two activations & periodic app updates. Can't go wrong!

Don't append the whole statewide system to a Favorites List. Just append the department(s) you want to monitor. Sentinel will still append all the sites, but you can easily delete all of them except the 2 or 3 closest to you.

Just to add what dr has already noted, you can select a specific Department from a large system, and append only that department. As already noted several times, the append will include all of the sites, but you can restrict the append by expanding the system in the right side window in Sentinel, then highlight only the one you want, before executing the append. If you wanted more than one Department, you can hold down the Control key and then click (select) the ones you want.

Then, <Right><Click> (on a selected Department) to complete the Append process.

While all of the sites came along for the ride, only the Department selected in the first screenshot was appended.

As Whiskey has already noted, a better solution is to become a Premium Subscriber, then use software such as ProScan to import only the Departments, and Sites, that you actually want.

Thanks, got it sorted. Also figured out how to edit systems, strange one particular I wanted to listen to near me uses conventional system with p25 digital. The database shows that but what was in the scanner only had the frequencies set at analog. I fixed it. But I had updated the database and it said it was current 🤷

It's only as current as its members update it.

It is current on the database, the frequencies in question show digital p25 and nac code. But on the Uniden Scanner they show up as analog. Weird.

I suggest using Location Control for your Favorites List. That way the scanner will use your location and turn off everything too far away to receive. It's a simple thing to change in editing the FL.

The best part of this is you don't run the risk of deleting/avoiding something inadvertently that is critical to your listening.

Should you later add stuff from the database due to an update, you won't have to repeat the Avoid/Delete exercise.
