sorry im asking so many questions
i now have my sacnner programmed. i have elgin ill programed in the trunk system and it was working just fine yesterday. today while in the scan mode i m picking up nothing. but when i put the scanner in the manual mode and one by one go through the channels it picks up fine. why is this. what is the new guy doing wrong?

Check to see if your channels are Locked Out. If they are, they won't be
scanned in Scan mode, but they will in Manual Mode.

From your other post, can I assume you have a PRO-96? If so, it sounds like you were scanning in open mode, but are now scanning in closed mode, but have no ID's programmed in. In the upper right hand corner of the display, there will be either a plus sign, or a minus sign. The plus sign indicates open mode, which is what you need if you don't have any talkgroup ID's programmed into memory. The minus sign would indicate closed mode, and you won't hear anything except the talkgroups that you have entered, and everything else will be ignored. To toggle between open and closed mode, press the function key, and then one of the number keys, I'm not currently at a location where I have access to my owner's manual, so I don't recall which number key it is, but check with the owner's manual.
