I was in Atlantic City the past couple of days and tried to monitor their system with a PRO96 and BC-250D. On the 250 I received the FD in analog but couldn't hear the PD at all. I have since figured out that I probably need to adjust the "audio receive" parameters to monitor the digital part. I routinely monitor multi-site system and I am sure the Atlantic City System is a single site. In my opinion a very weak and not very readable single site. On the PRO96 all FD transmissions broke out repeatedly and I could barely copy them at all. Also on the PRO96 it showed a frequency at times of 866.350. That frequency isn't listed as part of the Atlantic City system or Atlantic County System.

So my questions are: does anybody who reads these Posts monitor Atalntic City PD? If you do is there something I should be doing to receive it better on either a Uniden BC250D or PRO96? My wife is dragging me back there in a couple of weeks and since I don't gamble reading and monitoring is all I have to do while I am there in the hotel room.

I MONITOR THE AC SYSTEM DAILY W/O PROBLEMS W/250d. I WOULD KEEP THAT FREQ IN. PD IS DIGITAL, ALL OTHER USERS ARE ANALOG.

Thanks for the responses. Reference the information "elsewhere on Radio Reference". I had that information. I noted no simulcast of fire operations on vhf frequencies. So if that is occuring I don't realize how I am missing that. I had two scanners running both the PRO96 and the 250D. Reference the response from the person who monitors Atlantic City daily, just a confirmation, you receive this system clearly, no breaking of transmissions either PD or FD on the trunked system?

THE ONLY PROBLEM W/AC SYSTEM IS THE DEAD ZONES THAT EVERYONE COMPLAINS ABOUT SUCH AS IN TROP, HIGH SCHOOL, CONVENTION CENTER, ETC. THEIR HAS BEEN A FEW CASES OF OVERLOADS AND SYSTEM SHUT DOWNS SUCH AS A DOWN OVER THE JULY 4th WEEKEND.
IN THOSE CASES ALL USERS GO TO A 800 CONVENTIONAL TALKAROUND CHANNEL. THEIR IS NO CONVENTIONAL SIMILCAST FREQUENCIES IN ATLANTIC CITY. ALL THE OLD FREQS WERE TURNED OVER TO OTHER USERS.

The Pd works beautiful on my Pro-96 when I visit AC. As a matter of fact, we were there during the Miss America Pagent and it was unbelievable with the comms going back and forth. The problem with the FD on the Pro-96 is it is affected by the talkgroup bug which affects a few talkgroups in the 48000 range. It will not stay on the talkgroup and keeps breaking up as you described. In order to fix this you have to return it to the factoy for the version 1.3 CPU upgrade.
