Hi Upman or someone can else can feedback,
I was thinking about purchasing in the spring or early summer 2019 Uniden BCD536HP. I live in the Easton,Pa and now my question about programming it. What happens if I don’t know all the ZIP Codes of where I live for it to program? Can I put it in some software and upload it that way like taking the frequencies off of radio reference and add them. Now I’ve also want to know what is the software I’m going to have to download? Cause I have the software on my computer for my BCD996XT is not going to work with this new radio. Also here is another I need to find out if someone can help me and post pics. Someone has posted a live feed of new P25 City of Allentown Fire Dept. Now when it shows up in the app of Broadcastify. It would say like example AFD F-1 and then Engine 6 cause that is the unit that is responding. I was wondering can u put in a space for Conventional frequencies and example like this or is that not possible..

I know u can do this Lehigh County Fire Dispatch and then the frequency.

But can u do it this way in a conventional
programming like u program the dept that use the frequency

U put the frequency

154.1300
Whitehall Twp F-1
Station 35 << now can u put this one another line or no? If you can can somebody please do an example in the program software that they use or take a screenshot of their scanner with them typed in that frequency and just go to that channel even though you won’t be able to hear it in your area and show me that you can and explain to me how you do it If u do it in the software. Thanks

James

It has software called sentinel when you put in a zip could it adds a radius like so many miles. You don’t put zip codes all around you you just put one zip code that you can change if you want

The software made for the scanner is called sentinel and it can be found here:http://info.uniden.com/twiki/pub/UnidenMan4/BCD536HP/BCDx36HP_Sentinel_Version_2_00_10.zip

It uses the radioreference database to give the scanner access to all of the frequencies in the U.S. and Canada. The first thing you would need to do is update your firmware and database using sentinel. Others have already answered about the zip code, you only need to know the one closest to your location and set an appropriate range to pull in all frequencies that overlap with the range you set.

I will hope someone else can post pictures for your programming questions, but I will say our customer/tech support department are happy to help you create favorites lists and answer questions, you can contact us at 1-800-297-1023

You may also wish to visit YouTube and search for Uniden Sentinel. There are many videos there that are "step by step" on preparing your scanner and getting started with Sentinel. You can also search for Uniden 536 there as well as Uniden 436. While the 436 and 536 are different scanners, their programming and operation are very similar.

Lastly, on zip codes. The only zip code to be concerned with is where the scanner is. That is more or less a tool that assists the scanner in knowing where it is. From there the scanner will determine, based on range information, which "things" to turn on.

What's happening more or less, and this might be too much information, there is an internal database in the scanner. When you enter a zip code, the scanner refers to that database and "grabs" the lat/long for the center of the zip code entered. It is that lat/long that the scanner assumes for its location.
