First, I have used alerts before. Here in Utah and NINN. The twittermail alert is great.

1. Is it necessary to use a subject line? I notice that only the body of the alert shows up in my text message on the cell phone. I omitted the subjedt line when emailing an alert, and the alert never came through.

2. Is it posible to get alerts sent to an email? Not just to a phone number.

3. Does every that transmits successfully also show up here on UT Incidents?

Well I have sent with and without the subject and had it post. Now and then the twittermail service gets slow, or fails.

I think that there is a way. I use a web app though to get updates. there are dozens of twitter tools available.

No, If able try to post it to both. I am looking at any possible other methods that we could use for the alerts that will work for everyone, and have the least amount of downsides.

I, also, would like to find out how to get e-mail alerts since I DO NOT HAVE A CELL PHONE. I signed up with Twitter and I thought I had found that option, but I have NEVER received one single alert. I have been all over the Twitter Web page looking for the right button to push, too.

I AM HATING THIS! I'm glad that some people are able to get them ...and don't tell me to get a cell phone!

Wow! Judging from my misspellings, I must have been in a real huury,
or else I was real tired.

Anyway, So as we understand it, if we want the alert posted here, we need to post to twittermail and breaking news. Two different email addresses.

With the RMRA group, we could choose to have group messages forwarded to our email.
Could this be an option available to qlajlu? Could breaking news be forwarded to his email?

I appreciate the thoughtfulness, N7YUO, but it isn't necessary. I'll just plug along as usual and check the forum often as I don't have much else to do during the day. The only thing is not having ANYONE post to this forum since everyone else is playing with Twitter. Not the first time I have been left out of the game. I'll pay closer attention to the scanners, too.

Again I want to point out that I do not exclusively use the Twitter service. I do post the alerts here, if I am at home and my PC is available to access the boards. I use the twitter app by sending the alert via my cell phone, which I have 24/7.

To get the 'Tweets' directly to your PC you will need to install a app on your computer. It is very simple, and they can be fully configured.

Here are the current Twitter endorsed free apps: Twitter / Downloads
I currently use the Google Widget on my browser, and also have Tweetdeck configured to sound an alert when there is a tweet on UtahAlerts.

To get tweets by email I would look into an RSS alerting program. Each twitter feed has an RSS feed and there are several programs that will email you when there are updates.

I have played a bit with alerts.yahoo.com a bit.

Since this seems like a thing, I will look at some potential solution's are in addition to the Yahoo deal.

This looks doable. I have found a possible solution. If anyone can test it out, and also list any other options still.

RSS to Email: Feed My Inbox ~ RSS to Email ~ Feed to Email
Utah Alerts RSS: Twitter / UtahAlerts

Feed my inbox is another alerting solution like the Yahoo one.

The issue I am seeing (with Yahoo and Others) is the delay in which they send the emails out. The Feed My Inbox specifically says: "Whether there is 1 post or 10 posts to the feed in a 24 hour period, you receive them all in one email." So while you will get the info it is still not instant.

Still searching :)

The only way I know of having twitter alerts land in an e-mail account is via rss2email. Let me research this a little bit. I may be able to set this up on the server, and then set up aliases for people.
