I have just recently purchased the BCD996T and I am very happy with it. Recently I was taking my scanner with me on the road and I have some questions. I was removing the stock antenna (the one that came with the scanner) and it is a bear to remove. Does anyone have any suggestions? Also is there a carrying case for this scanner? I know I should use the BCD396T for portability but I love the BCD996T so much more.

I remember some dicussion about the antenna before and it turns out that some or all of them actually have slots inside the plastic part that engage the pins on the outside of the BNC connector on the back of the radio. Try twisting it a bit to disengage them, but watch out for the connector on the radio that it does not twist right around. I don't think it should since it should have a flat spot to stop it from turning but could slip around if the hole is not made tight to the connector or if the connector has come loose at all. The plastic part of the stock antenna does seem to fit quite snug, maybe warming it a tiny bit with a hair dryer soften it a bit will let it slide off. I have never seen any carrying case for it.

As David said there is slots you have to twist a bit first then remove. However it is complicated.
I have broken one or two of these because u think u twisted and its not yet there...

its a flimsy plastic connection, horrible idea.. although the antenna isnt bad for a stock antenna reception.

anyways keep trying twist and pull.

Don't use the stock antenna at home. When on the road,I use a handheld
scanner antenna(rubber duck) with a 90 degree BNC connector.
Less likely to get bend or damaged in the suitcase.

Radio Shack has a nice little rubber duck scanner antenna which, with the 90 degree adapter works quite well for me. I threw away the antenna that came with the radio.... was very disappointed they would provide such a cheap antenna on a great radio.
