Hi. I'd like to figure out a way to have quick access to GMRS/FRS channel 19 (462.6500 MHz). My simplistic idea is to just create a favorite with that single frequency and assign a quick key to it. Does that make sense at all, or is there a 'better' way to do it? It's been ages since i've done anything beyond just turning the scanner on and switching between favorites......

You can assign a tag to that sys.dept.channel, then use the channel lock feature to "jump" directly to it. That's the preferred method of you just want to "sit" on that one channel. If you have more than one channel of interest, put them in a favorite list so you can scan thru them.

Thanks all. Got it to work…but my hopes that GMRS channel 19 would be an alternative for CB channel 19 were for naught….not a peep in several hours of driving. Wanted to check before investing in a new radio.

GMRS is not used like that. You'd hear much more traffic on CH1 or 2 to be honest. Most folks using FRS/GMRS while traveling are caravanning with another. While there was some discussion on GMRS forums CH19 cannot be used above Line A so its been a disagreement since.

I would program it with number tag 1.1.1 if you don't want to use the 'VFO' mode described in post 3. Number tags go directly to channels.
