To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello.

Any idea how to add a Quick Call II ID List under the Quick Call System tab? On one portable it’s there, and under another it’s not.

Thanks

Have you added PAGE to the MENU?
Have you added QC II settings to the related Personality?
Have you created a QC II list?
There might be more. Check the settings from the "good" portable to the "bad" portable.

Nothing works. Here's a screenshot of the side-by-side difference. For some reason I can't add the QCII List, which is what I need to open the frequency when the tones drop.

I checked the CPS of several XTS5K radios and all of them show both the QC II System and List selections. Interestingly, I was unable to delete any of them, even after removing QC II-related settings in other areas of the codeplug and each of the QC II lists appeared to be populated with default data.
This suggests to me that perhaps your 2nd radio might not be flashed for the QC II feature. Have you compared the flash codes of each radio?

Thanks for the quick response. So both portables have different FLASHcodes. The "working" QCII portable has FLASHcode: 500008-000410-5, while the "non-working" QCII portable has FLASHcode: 100001-000000-7.

What firmware is the trouble radio currently running? Might be too old to work properly?

Astro 25 Portable CPS Version R20.01.00 - I've used this to program the "good" portable that has the QCII list withot any issue.

Not the CPS version but the radio's firmware itself. Easiest way is to open that window in the CPS tree just after performing a read operation. For some reason, opening the codeplug as an archive only yields "N/A" for firmware so it must be read first. Or you can put the radio into test mode and read the FW version as it scrolls by (within 10 seconds of turning the radio on, press side button 2 five times in succession).

Got it. R12.00.10
OK, that may be the issue due to its age. I've seen Astro 25 firmware history release notes but I'm not able to find it right now. Can look tomorrow where I have access to such documents. Unfortunately, updating firmware is a tricky process nowadays since they're past EOL and the refresh keys can be hard to come by. Hopefully someone else who remembers the earlier days of Astro 25 can confirm but I believe firmware level is your issue.

@Sokim24 I'm not sure of the significance, but the radio with the FC starting with 1 has only 2 features: Astro Digital and Conventional Systems Operation.
Interestingly, the radio with the FC starting with 5 has several features, including Astro Digital, Enhanced Display, and SmartZone Systems Operation (and some other trunking-related items), but no Conventional Systems Operation.
Nothing mentioned about QC II for either radio.

The FLASHcode is not the issue, the ancient firmware likely is. I just checked an XTS 2500 with the same 100001-000000-7 FLASHcode and the QCII list is right where it should be.

Hello. So I was able to update the firmware on the radio to R20.50.07 without any luck. The QCII Call List option still did not appear.
