I would like to build two different quick key list. The first will contain favorite agencies I monitor during the day. The second will contain agencies I monitor at night. Some agencies will be on both lists. Is this possible and how would I do it?

No, a favorites list can only be assigned one QK and the same QK can’t be assigned to more than one FL. I think multiple system and departments can be assigned same QK, but not more than one QK.

startup config/keys probably come as close as possible to what I think you want. Or separate FLs, one for day and one for night.

I have read Mark’s manual several times and can’t find the answer to my question.
Would having 2 favorite lists, one named day the other named night work? Both favorite lists would be duplicated except the night list, you could go through it avoiding the talkgroups or channels you don't want on it. I might have misunderstood, but I do it that way.

You may be thinking of a different setup, but if you are think of creating a 'Day' list with all your systems of interest, and a smaller "Night", containing only those more of interest, such as your local Law Enforcement, Fire, and EMS, then you might do this:

Create one list initially. If it's your 'day' list, put whatever you want in it. You can, of course, append many of your items from the main database, then use the Favorites Editor to clean it up if needed to remove excess talkgroups or sites (left over from the Append process). Once you've edited it, tweaking entries and text tags as needed, save any changes & return to the main Sentinel page.

If your 'night' list is composed of selected systems from your 'day' list, you can <right><click> on systems in your day list, and append them to a new list. Just right click a system to bring up the pop-up menu. Select the append function, which will bring up a list of your Favorites to append to. Select the New Favorites option, then give the new list a name. That will append the system to what will be your evening list, whatever name you care to give it. You can then append other systems from the 'day' list to your alternate night list. Of course, you also have the option of appending a totally different system (not in your day file) from the main database. Use Sentinel's Favorites Editor if needed to massage text tags or anything else.

Whether the agencies are on the same system would play a role too, if a trunked system is involved.

If this is indeed a trunked system, you may wish to check out Department Quick Keys, with a "Day" DQK, a "Night" DQK and a "Both" DQK.

If your interest is at the FL level, just assign those you only want to hear during the day a QK and leave the rest without one. That way, at night disable that QK and you will be left monitoring the limited set of FLs.
